Janata Samajbadi Party recalls Giri from parliament, scraps her Party membership

Samajbadi party has decided to recall Sarita Giri as a lawmaker and to sack her from the membership of the party.

The meeting of the office bearers of the party made the decision on Tuesday. The meeting took the decision as per the recommendation by the three member panel led by party general secretary, Ram Sahay Prashad Yadav.

After the government published Nepal’s new map including Limpiadhura, Lipulek and Kalapani along with the amendment of the national emblem with the new map’s image, Giri had registered an amendment to the amendment bill.

Both the houses had unanimously endorsed the bill. Giri had boycotted the Lower House after Speaker Agni Sapkota announced that her proposal had been scrapped as per Clause 112 of the House of Representatives’ regulations, which says that any amendment proposal to a bill cannot contradict the primary spirit of the bill.

The Samajbadi party had asked her to take the amendment bill back but she refused. Giri currently holds a proportional representation seat from the Samajbadi Party under the Khas Arya portion of the women quota.
