Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa has directed the security forces to be on high alert and prepare for the risk of floods and landslides.

An emergency meeting of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority held at Singha Durbar on Thursday concluded that there would be heavy rains in a few days and there was a high risk of floods and landslides.

As it has been raining since May this year, the NEA has estimated that there may be a big crisis in the middle of the year. Home Minister Thapa also said that the people should be fully prepared for the challenge of protecting their livelihood.

Stating that all the organizations and departments including the working committee at the center should be on alert 24 hours a day, Home Minister Thapa informed that the operation should be started immediately after the incident and the structures at the local level have been set up for this.

During the meeting, the representatives of NEA informed those present about the risk of rain. The meeting of NEA was convened after the floods and landslides in different parts of Sindhupalchowk caused great loss of life and property.
