AIG of Nepal Police Shailesh Thapa Kshetri has been promoted to the post of IG. He is going to be the 28th IGP of Nepal Police.
The meeting of the cabinet held on Tuesday afternoon decided to appoint him the IG of Nepal Police. He is currently the head of Human Resource and Administration Department. He is considered to be an undisputed officer of the Nepal Police.
Thapa entered Nepal Police as an Inspector in 2049 BS. His competitor from the same batch was AIG Haribahadur Pal. Thapa was chosen based on the Evaluation criteria, where he ranked 1st. Thapa will remain IGP until May 7, 2022.
Current IGP Thakur Gyawali is retiring this Wednesday after completing his 30 years of service which requires compulsory retirement.
