25 Health Workers Refusing to work for Covid-19 Control and Prevention Arrested

Police have arrested 25 health workers of Birgunj Metropolitan City for refusing to work for the control and prevention of Covid-19 infection.

Police have arrested 25 health workers of Birgunj Metropolitan City from the premises of Birgunj Metropolitan City on Thursday evening.

According to Parsa Superintendent of Police Ganga Pant, 25 health workers who refused to work under various pretexts were brought under control under the direction of the local administration and brought to the District Police Office.

Narayani Hospital had requested 60 health workers from the District Disaster Management Center for the isolation of the hospital and lack of health workers for swab collection.

At the request of the hospital, the district administration office had written a letter to the Birgunj Municipal Corporation on July 26 instructing it to provide 60 health workers.

After that, the corporation had sent a list of 30 health workers to the hospital on July 25. The list included four health inspectors, 11 senior Ahabs, 5 Ahabs and 4 Anamis.

However, Assistant Chief District Officer of Parsa Lalit Basnet informed that the police personnel were sent to the police station after the employees did not go to work.

Basnet said that the alternative isolation and swab collection work was affected due to the lack of health workers.

"Health workers have been brought under control to inquire as to why they did not go to work," he said. "Even now, if they do not go to work, departmental action will be taken."

Dr. Uday Narayan Singh, the coordinator of Covid Hospital, said that he had informed the local administration after contacting the health workers whose name list had been sent.
