Protest saying that the culprit of Rukum incident should not be acquitted

The Joint Political Dalit Struggle Committee has given continuity to the protest saying that the culprit of the incident in Chaurjahari Municipality-8 Soti of Rukum should not be acquitted.

The committee also staged a massive protest at Maitighar on Wednesday demanding strict action against the perpetrators of the incident. Leaders of various parties and MPs participated in the demonstration.

He also alleged that the incident could not be investigated in depth. They chanted slogans saying that the perpetrators of ethnic genocide should be punished to the utmost.

Rastriya Janamorcha president Chitra Bahadur KC, who participated in the demonstration, said that ethnic discrimination was a stigma in the history of the world and it should be eradicated.

He expressed concern over the implementation of the committee's report even though a parliamentary committee has been formed to investigate the Rukum incident.

Locals had beaten up 18 people, including Nawaraj Bik, who had gone to sleep in Chaurjahari Municipality-8 of Rukum West from Jajarkot to marry his non-Dalit girlfriend. Six people, including Nawaraj, were killed in the incident.
