MP with protesters arrested handing over memorandum to Oli

Police have arrested some people, including a lawmaker, for handing over a memorandum to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on the killing of a Dalit youth in Rukum West.

Police arrested a team including MP Laxmi Pariyar while she was on her way to the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar to hand over a memorandum on behalf of the United Dalit Political Struggle Committee.

They allege that the investigation into the incident was weak and that the post-mortem report was tampered with.

When they reached to hand over the memorandum, the police stopped them at the gate of the Prime Minister's residence.

MP Pariyar has been injured in the incident. Among the arrested are former lawmaker Jeevan Pariyar, Sunita Marik and Durga Baraili.

After the murder of Nawaraj and five of his friends who went to Soti for inter-caste marriage on May 26, the struggle committee has been holding regular protests in Kathmandu.
