False propaganda on adopted citizenship

Ruling party lawmakers have objected to the misrepresentation of adopted citizenship.

In a meeting of the National Assembly on Tuesday, Veduram Bhusal of the CPN (Maoist) said that the issue of granting citizenship to a foreign woman who has got married to a citizen has been clarified by the constitution of Nepal and some political parties have misrepresented the law-making process .

He alleged that some political parties had made unnecessary noise by raising issues such as confrontation even though the adopted citizen would get all kinds of rights except political.

Stating that no one can weaken Nepal's nationality, Ram Narayan Bindari of the CPN (Maoist) drew the attention of the concerned parties not to propagate about the Nepali society that lives together and respects each other with wrong intentions.

Prakash Pantha of the Nepali Congress said that the government was trying to move forward alone. On the occasion, Rajapaksa Mrigendra Kumar Singh drew the attention of the government to solve the problem as people's lives were in trouble due to various rivers in the Terai-Madhesh and wild animals coming from the reserve were destroying food crops.

In the meeting, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai had proposed to send the Copyright (First Amendment) Bill, 2076 BS to the Legislative Management Committee for clause-wise discussion. The next meeting of the National Assembly has been called on June 25.
