City protest for Rukum incident

The United Dalit Political Struggle Committee (UDCCC) has organized a city rally in Kathmandu on Tuesday demanding release of the culprit of the incident in Chaurjahari Municipality-8 Soti of Rukum.

The committee has taken out a city procession in Kathmandu demanding strict action against the culprit who fell into the Bheri River after being chased by the villagers of Bheri Municipality-4 of Jajarkot in Chaurjahari Municipality-8 of Rukum.

Demonstrators also alleged that the incident could not be investigated in depth. They chanted slogans saying that the perpetrators of ethnic genocide should be punished to the utmost.They were stopped by the police when they tried to move towards Baneshwor along with the city procession.

Locals had beaten up 18 people, including Nawaraj Bik, who had gone to sleep in Chaurjahari Municipality-8 of Rukum West from Jajarkot to marry his non-Dalit girlfriend. Six people, including Nawaraj, were killed in the incident. Their bodies were found in the Bheri River.
