Cabinet decides to change Lockdown modality, SEE cancelled

The government has decided to ease the lockdown enforced for the prevention of spread of Covid-19 coronavirus.

The meeting of the cabinet held yesterday evening has decided to ease the lockdown in place since Chaitra 11 in different phases by changing the modality.

According to a minister, the modality of the lockdown is going to be updated after suggestions from ministers were considered.

The Prime Minister is said to give it a final touch Thursday morning before the spokesperson for the government announces it in a press conference at three in the afternoon.

According to sources, in the first phase, it has been decided to allow activities related to agriculture.

In addition, markets are also set to open in less risky areas by following the medical guidelines of the Ministry of Health and security guidelines of the Home ministry.

Similarly, private vehicles are also to be allowed to operate on an ‘odd-even’ basis.

However, this decision of the government is not going to apply to vulnerable districts.

The cabinet meeting which lasted for more than four and a half hours discussed by focusing on the recommendations given by the High Level Committee on Covid-19 Prevention and Control to ease the lockdown.

On the basis of consequences of the first phase till the second week of Ashad, the government will officially decide on allowing long distance transportation and schools to resume in the next phase.

Similarly, the government has also decided not to conduct the SEE examinations this year.

It has been decided to consider the internal evaluations by schools to provide certificates to the students.

The government used the clause 20 of “Sikshya Ain-2028” in making this decision. The government is also ready to modify the law if needed.
