An additional 1,300 MW within the fiscal year

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Barshaman Pun has said that about 1,300 MW of electricity will be added to the national transmission line within the next fiscal year.

Replying to a question raised by the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation on various topics under the Appropriation Bill, 2077 BS in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, Energy Minister Pun said that the projects promoted by the government and private investment would be completed in the coming fiscal year.

He said that the Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project was targeted to be completed in the current fiscal year but it could not be completed on time due to corona virus infection.

Minister Pun said that water resources would be conserved, developed and managed in a planned manner by three levels of government and users for the development, management and utilization of available water resources in the country.

Minister Pun said that the bilateral mechanism with India would not be made more effective to reduce the erosion and inundation in the Terai-Madhesh border area in a sustainable manner and the problem would be effectively implemented through regular joint monitoring and inspection of the problem site.

Out of the total budget of Rs. 99.29 billion for the coming fiscal year, Rs. 72.60 billion has been proposed for energy and Rs. 26.69 billion for water resources and irrigation.
