16.42 billion budget of Kathmandu Metropolitan City

Kathmandu Metropolitan City has made public the budget and programs of Rs. 16.42 billion for the coming Fiscal Year 2077/07. Kathmandu Metropolitan City Deputy Chief Hari Prabha Khadki Shrestha presented the budget of the same amount in the seventh session of the Municipal Council.

In the budget, Rs. 172.3 million has been allocated for the economic development sector. This is 1.5 percent of the total budget. Similarly, Rs 1.78 billion has been allocated for office operation and administrative sector. This is 10.85 percent of the total budget.

Special programs have been mentioned in the budget allocation to prevent the impact of corona in the budget and to reduce its possible effects.

According to Bidya Sundar Shakya, head of the metropolis, projects of special importance for the metropolis include construction of office building, construction of vertical parking building, development of tourist footpath, development of public land, protection of public land, construction of park and greenery promotion, river control and corridor construction, urban transport management. .

Similarly, the metropolis has allocated budget in the coming Fiscal Year by giving importance to heritage protection and promotion and infrastructure development.

Deputy Chief Hari Prabha Khadki Shrestha said that the budget has been allocated to ensure the development programs run by the metropolis based on formulas, administrative reform of the metropolis, economy and transparency working system, zero tolerance on corruption.

The metropolis has given full exemption to all types of tax arrears for the fiscal year 2076/07, which are yet to be collected from the taxpayers due to the impact of Corona.

Similarly, considering the impact of Kovid-19 on the people of the metropolis, if the property tax is filed by mid-December of the Fiscal Year 2077/078, ten percent exemption will be given in the property tax for this Fiscal Year.

The metropolis has self-declared that the homeowner who has given exemption for at least one month of house restoration has given the exemption and if the house restoration tax due in the fiscal year 2076/77 comes to be paid, ten percent discount will be given in the annual restoration tax.
