The former finance ministers are of the view that the forthcoming budget should address the areas affected by the lockdown as much as possible.

During the discussion held by the Legislative Management Committee on the priorities of the budget for the coming fiscal year, he opined that the budget should come to address the various areas affected by the lockdown.

Industry, tourism, hotels and other sectors have come to a standstill due to the slowdown in economic growth, he said.

Former Finance Minister Surendra Pandey said that the government should give priority to these areas as the losses in the areas of revenue and remittances will affect next year as well.

He said that the imbalance between supply and demand has affected the employment sector as well.

Similarly, former finance minister Dr Ram Sharan Mahat suggested that the budget should be brought to achieve the target and implement it.

Stating that there is no possibility of meeting the capital expenditure now, he said that special attention should be paid to it next year.

He also suggested that the disease sector should be given priority as unemployment could be a problem next year.

During the discussion, the former finance ministers said that the amount given in the grant has been misused and now it should be given on the basis of criteria.

He also suggested that some businesses should be allowed to start by maintaining social distance in the current situation.
