Protest by Dalit youth students
Protests have also taken place in Kathmandu on Wednesday against the incident that took place in Chaurjahari Municipality-8 of Rukum on the issue of inter-caste love affair.
Dalit youths have staged a protest at Maitighar in Kathmandu demanding strict action against the culprit who fell into the Bheri River after being chased away by a Dalit youth from Bheri Municipality-4 of Jajarkot in Chaurjahari Municipality-8 of Rukum.
The protesters have demanded strict action against the culprits and not to leave the incident on political grounds. They questioned the government on the date of death of dalits due to inter-caste marriages.
The bodies of Nawaraj Bik of Bheri Municipality-4, Ganesh Budha Magar and Tikaram Sunar of Chaurjahari Municipality-1 have been found. Govinda Shahi of Bheri Municipality-11, Lokendra Sunar and Sandeep Bik of Bheri Municipality-4 are missing.
A team of trained divers has been deployed in the Bheri River to search for the three missing persons. The Home Ministry has formed an investigation committee to investigate the incident. Police have arrested 12 people on the charge of being involved in the incident.
A complaint has been lodged against 20 people on the girl's side.
