Emphasis on Parliament sitting to adopt high vigilance

Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota said that the federal parliament meeting was conducted with high alertness.

Speaking to media persons on Friday morning, Speaker Sapkota said that the budget session of the federal parliament is about to begin at a time when there is a risk of corona virus and high vigilance has been adopted.

He said that appropriate arrangements have been made as per the guidelines of the World Health Organization, the decision of the Government of Nepal and the criteria of the health team.

He also said that the meeting of the House of Representatives will be held at 11 a.m. and the National Assembly at 1 p.m.

In the meeting held on March 10, the Finance Minister of the Government of Nepal Dr.Yuvaraj Khatiwada will present the principles and priorities of the budget (pre-budget).

After that, the meeting will be adjourned for some time and the discussion on pre-budget will start. Speaker Sapkota said that the discussion will continue till December 2 and 3.

After that, President Bidyadevi Bhandari is scheduled to present the policy and program of the Government of Nepal on May 20.

If the meeting is not held on May 13, the discussion on the policy and program will start from May 15 and the questions raised in the discussion will be answered by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, said Sapkota.

Finance Minister Khatiwada is scheduled to present the economic survey for the coming fiscal year on June 15.

According to the constitutional provision, the budget for the fiscal year 2077/78 will be presented on June 19.

Speaker Sapkota also said that he would take maximum initiative to maximize the presence of MPs in the budget session.
